Don't be! We'll show you the sights of Reykjavik by night on bike.
In summer we've got 24 hour daylight which offers a most unique opportunity to bicycle at night. Distance varies between 7 and 18 km depending on the weather and the interest and ability of the group. Private tours available, please enquire.
In winter we have only 4 hours of daylight between 11 AM and 3 PM on the shortest day of the year 21 December. Don't let this discourage you as Reykjavik has more electric lights than any city of comparable size in Europe and the USA. You won't get lost in the dark. Of course we keep our eyes open for the northern lights.
Tour description:
Reykjavik lights up like a Christmas tree at night. It’s a beautiful city to cycle around in the evenings, often with less traffic. Visually it’s a different vibe, as all the buildings and monuments are lit up against the backdrop of the dark sky.
Reykjavik Bike Tours invites you to join us on our Reykjavik by Night Tour. The tour starts at our headquarters – two fire engine red shipping containers – on Ægisgardur key at Reykjavik‘s Old Harbour. From there we bicycle on safely lit bicycles and wearing reflective safety vest and helmet along the northern shoreline of the Reykjavik peninsula. Past Harpa concert, conference and concert hall commissioned in 2011. Then to see Hofdi House – the meeting place of Reagan and Gorbachev in 1986. We then bicycle down Laugavegur – the main shopping street, and stop at a local pub (to warm up of course).
Afterwards we may cycle to one of Reykjavik‘s lighthouses depending on the weather and the ability of the participants.
This tour is a little different to our other daytime tours, as it covers more distance in the same amount of time. There’s less talking, and more riding. We can also tailor this night tour to your group's needs, if you'd like to make a private booking.
